If there were an Oscar awarded for "Best Use of Root Vegetables as Props", Shoot 'Em Up would win it.

Supposed to go camping this weekend, but it appears this freaky monsoon we're having has shelved those plans. Curses!

I went to my sister's graduation from Oregon State today, sat through hours of speeches that all promised brevity only to merrily break said promise, and I got a nasty sunburn for my trouble. In the end, we didn't even get to see her get the diploma. They started with the PHDs and read off the names of the 60 some odd people getting them. Then they did the Masters degrees, and they just had the folks march up in a line and receive their diploma while the band played, sans reading of names. We thought maybe they had already covered those folks in a separate ceremony, but then they moved on to the Baccalaureate folks and it was the same deal; marching up while the band played and no reading of names. We lost sight of her in the crowd and completely missed it when she got her diploma. Now, seeing as how it had already been close to three hours before they handed off the first diploma, I didn't really mind not having to sit through the reading of 4200 names. Still, it made for a strange graduation.

Spent another evening at OHSU with muerte tonight. It's actually not that far from work, so it's not a long drive, but getting into and out of that place is always an adventure. I don't know who thought putting essential services on top of Marquam Hill was a good idea, but I'd like to perform acts upon him that would result in a long stay at said facility.

While there I saw a 3 foot tube pulled out of a man's nasal passage. So, really, a typical evening for me.

Wow man. You're addressing the Unites States Congress, not your Friday night D&D game. That speech only goes well with Mt Dew and Cheetos.

Boise State went 12-0, and just played in the Fiesta Bowl with a ton of guts and heart. They won in overtime to become 13-0, and there's no possibility of them getting a piece of the national title. That 'aint right.

I ordered Lost Season 2 for my Mom's birthday from Buy.com, which had it in stock. I ordered on the 25th of November and instead of the free shipping I paid for 2-5 day shipping to be sure it got here by her birthday on December 4th. A week went by before it finally shipped on December 1st, but it wasn't scheduled to be delivered until the 8th. Now the 8th has come and gone, and it's still not here. It got to Portland early this morning and won't be delivered until Monday the 11th, 16 days after I ordered it.

Oh, and for a little ironic twist, on November 26th I ordered her a Christmas gift, also from Buy.com, which shipped the next day and got here on December 1st.

Got to Fred Meyer at 5:00am, Scotty had been there for about 15 minutes already. The line looked like I was probably one of the 29 folks who were going to get one. At around 6:30 the store manager came out and handed out tickets, and I got number 21, but it wasn't a big deal, everyone who had showed up was able to get a ticket. Once we got a ticket they told us we were guaranteed a Wii when they opened at 7:00am, so we headed over to Denny's to warm up. As soon as we sat down our buddy Russ called and said he had just pulled up to Freddies and gotten the last ticket. Good timing on his part.

I got out of Freddies with the Wii, another controller and nunchuck attachment, and Zelda. Not a bad morning.

Went and saw Casino Royale tonight with gorgonous, bigj, scotty and Chorissa(sp?). I was really impressed, it's easily the best Bond movie since Sean Connery.

Scotty and I had planned to go hit Fred Meyer early tomorrow to try and get a Wii, but angz tipped us off that they were opening at midnight. The Canby store wasn't one of the ones opening early though, so we cruised up to Oregon City. We got there just before 11:00, and there was a line wrapping around the building. Some folks had tents, and had obviously been there for hours. The guys at the Canby store had told us they had 29 in stock, so we figured even if Oregon City got twice as many we were out of luck. The Canby store had said they were going to let people line up at 11:00pm, so we went back over there to see if anybody was. At around 11:40 there was one guy and his kid with a sleeping bag, and that was it. Neither of us is willing to stand out in the cold all night, so we're going to head back over there at 5:00am and try our luck.
