Anyway, on the way home from the shop, my dad called and said he was given courtside tickets to the Blazer game. So, I headed for the Sunset Transit center, hopped on Max, and met him there. Man those were some great seats. I thought those guys looked huge before, but seeing them at eye level...damn. Tim Duncan is gigantic ;)
These tickets are not cheap. And so when I saw the guy sitting behind me, I thought he looked a little out of place. He was wearing old beatup jeans, a ratty shirt, and a mesh baseball cap. Looked like he belonged at a gas station. A little into the game, they announced that Tommy Lee Jones was at the game, and showed him on the scoreboard. Then, the picture switches to the grungy guy behind me. Turns out it was Benicio Del Toro! If his name doesn't ring a bell, he's Fenster in The Usual Suspects, the guy who talks funny. And he sounds exactly the same in person ;)
He's currently up for Best Supporting Actor for Traffic. I chatted with him for a few minutes, and got his autograph on my ticket stub.
The Blazers ended up getting killed by the Spurs, and Racheed Wallace and Bonzi Wells got ejected from the game. Not a great performance on their part. But that's ok, I got to meet Fenster ;)
