Got an estimate on the damage to my car on the way home today. Comes to $582.95 to replace the bumper, plus another $150-$200 to fix the damage to the frame, but they couldn't give me an exact quote on that without tearing the bumper off.

That, plus I'll have to rent a car for 2 days while my car is being fixed...grand total comes to $807.13 the guy is gonna have to pay me if he wants to keep the insurance company out of it.

You are far too nice to people.

better move damn fast, otherwise you'll miss the 72 hour window!

I give 10:1 odds this guy doesn't have $800. He'll probably claim he'll pay you real soon. Just as long as he can get out of the 72 hour window asap.

Oh, I think he's probably got the $800...business man who lives in Lake Oswego and all.

However, I'm well aware of the 72 hour window...that gives me till Saturday morning to report it. The deal is he either gets a check to me before then, or I'm calling the insurance company.

you need to go around and get 3 or 4 bids on that. Auto body places screw you on the labor on collision because they have no idea what they are getting into unless they take the whole thing apart

True, but it's not my money we're talking about, so I don't really care. I'm in "least possible effort on my part" mode ;)
