Spent yesterday in an almost total vegitative state...was pretty cool ;) Mike and Ferrell came over, checked out Metroid Prime, got some Burgerville (egg-nog shake owns me), and then went back to my house and watched the extended Fellowship of the Ring. All in all I feel it was a good call to cut most of the extra material from the theatrical release. For the most part it's references to things even most people who have read LotR won't catch (ie. Beren and Luthien, Morgoth, other things from The Silmarillion) or it's unnecessary stuff that slows the pace (extra scenes when leaving Rivendell). I enjoyed seeing the extra footage, but I think it's a better film without it. The exception is the gift scene with Galadriel. It's an important scene, in that you see Galadriel as a person, not just a power-mad sorceress, and it's also the most important scene for Gimli's character development. It's too bad that got cut, they pulled it off very well.

I also changed a bunch of the fuses in my car yesterday, still no dice. I drove to work this morning with no lights...kinda scary. Headlights weren't too big a deal, it was plenty light out and no fog, but having no brake lights is never good. I just stayed in the right lane and went slow, fortunately made it to work without any trouble. I had planned on taking the car to a shop in Canby after work, but I decided I didn't want to drive that far again until it's fixed, so I took it to a shop near work. Hopefully they'll have it done this afternoon, but if not I'll just go home with my Dad and spend the night in Beaverton.
